■ 1 --- Since Babel, languages are without number , and unrecognizable languages make one a foreigner and the speaker also a foreigner. So it is with you, Paul repeats. He commends their eagerness to possess spiritual gifts, and encourages them to seek those which build up the church. (Ref. 1 Cor. 14:12). * 무수한 ¶ Psalm 40:12 --- For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me. ■ 2 --- This is why Israel are never to forget their lack of trust and obedience - not so they wallow in self-pity or self-loathing, but so their gaze will always be directed towards the amazing grace of God, as the reason for, and meaning of, their existence(cf. 'writhing' , on tenterhooks with expectation. * 몸부림치며 괴로워하다 ¶ Psalm 77:16 --- The waters saw you, O God, the waters saw you and writhed ; the very depths were convulsed. ■ 4 --- During all the questioning of Jesus, a teacher of the law has been watching and waiting in the wings .
