1 --- The gibe about Galilee flung at Nicodemus reveals the contempt of the Jerusalem authorities for the provincials (cf. John 7:52). ▣
니고데모에게 거칠게 날아온 갈릴리에 대한
조롱의 말은 그 지방 사람들에 대한 예루살렘 권위자들의 경멸을 드러내고 있다(참조, 요 7:52)
■ 2 --- We should therefore learn that the only good we have is what the Lord has given us
gratuitously; that the only good we do is what He does in us; that it is not that we do nothing ourselves, but that we act only when we have been acted upon, in other words under the direction and influence of the Holy Spirit. (Ref. 1 Cor. 15:10) ▣
그러므로 우리는 주님이 우리에게
값없이 주신 것이 우리가 가진 유일한 선임을 알아야 한다. 곧 그가 우리 안에서 행하는 것만이 우리가 행하는 유일한 선이란 사실이다. 이는 우리가 스스로 아무 것도 하지 않는다는 것이 아니라 우리가 행동할 수 있어 왔던 만큼 행한다는 것이다. 다른 말로 하면 성령의 지시와 영향 하에서 행동하는 것이다
■ 3 --- Jesus had cut the ground from under the feet
of Nicodemus by at once disabusing his mind of any idea that God's kingdom could come without the conversion of its would-be subjects. ▣
예수님은 하나님의 나라가 그 나라의 백성 될 자들의 회심 없이도 올 수 있을 것이라고 생각하는 니고데모의 마음의
어리석음을 즉각 깨우치심으로써 그가 생각하고 있는
의중의 허를 찌르셨다. ■ 4
--- The freedom the word brings, the boldness and the delight must be safeguarded by the often
grinding task of gripping resolutely to the word. (cf. Ps. 119:45-48) ▣
우리는 때로 그 말씀에 단호하게 매달리는 일을
강압적으로라도 해서 그 말이 가져오는 자유, 담대함, 기쁨을 지켜내야 한다. |
